Entrepreneurs-journey.com has a thought provoking article about calculating the value, preparing to sell, finding buyers and handling the post sale of your website. To quote the author, “Your site is worth as much as someone is willing to give you for it.” A figure like two or three times net income sounds nice but factors such as the site’s potential, effort required for upkeep and the market must be taken into consideration.
For those who want to know more, here’s another article about valuing your 1’s and 0’s by Jacob Gower, the man who bought a few of Scriv’s sites. He estimates value by search engine traffic, incoming links, growth potential, and how much the site is making. One interesting comment he makes is, “most webmasters don’t correctly turn their traffic into income.”
The href on the blogging pro article link seems to be broken.
Good articles though, thanks for pointing them out.
I think it’s fixed now. Let me know if there’s any other problems.
Um, its Gower, not Glower. :)
Thanks for the link Chris. I appreciate you recommending my writing. It’s so much fun when it comes time to sell a website so this was an enjoyable topic to write about.
