Mark Birbeck of x-port.net posted a HTML/CSS presentation detailing the specs and highlights of XHTML 2. Honestly, it looks down right exciting. The “accessible, usable, device independent and semantic” proposition appears to nail some of the major concerns of everyone and their mom.

Here’s some highlights:

  1. Addition of the ” tag and simplifying header tags to just ”
  2. Allowing the ‘src’ attribute on any element (e.g. ‘

<

p>This is now and image!’). 3. Introduction of the ‘role’ attribute to specify how elements are used. Now we can “show” those blind people whether a ‘div’ is used for navigation or main content!
