Y Combinator is now accepting applications for the 2006 Summer Founders Program, which will be taking place back in Cambridge from June through August. The deadline, you aspiring hackers, is February 13, 2006, which means you have about a week to find some smart buddies and come up with a sweet idea you’d like to see realized.

I can say with absolute certainty that the Winter Founders Program will be a defining moment in the lives/careers of our team. The connections that we’ve made out here have been absolutely amazing. I promise you that the experience will be better than any internship that you could ever want. Period.

Some words of advice for giving your application a fighting chance: 1) Follow the instructions exactly. Don’t try to be a hero. 2) Be honest. These fellows are wicked clever. They can spot an MBA response from a 1000 yards away and sniper your ass out of the pile before you can say, “Paul Graham likes LISP.” 3) Really love what you’re proposing, because you’re going to get a lot of face time with it. If it’s not something you’re passionate about, it’s not something you’re going to build well or fast.
